Since the mid-1980s, he has used Paris, where he had studied earlier, as his base of artistic activities and held numerous exhibitions and installations at art galleries and other venues in Europe and America. He says, "I am interested in the relationship between men, materials, and nature: the three different elements which exist a priori in this world." His works, different as they are in theme and forms, invariably express the artist's idea about the relationship of these three elements. This work here is composed of beds and chairs, basic furniture for men's everyday life, resembling a musical instrument used by religion in ancient China. The materials are deliberately selected as stylistically of a different epoch and a different region. The furniture covered with leather is a bunch of drums and appreciative viewers, by beating them, can touch a world where they can enjoy music while healing themselves of sufferings and find spiritual rest.
