Birch

186*80*50cm
This work was inspired by a local fallen birch tree discovered when the artist stayed in Otoineppu, Hokkaido. He carved a birch tree which had survived in harsh nature, roughly by chain saw. For the artist, this material represents not just any tree but an aged birch tree in Hokkaido. Its rough bark seems to connote his deep and silent idea, which is how he exaggerates the meanng of a material and combines it with his representation.
