Kayoko KUSUMOTO

Meteor < Meteor >

1998

Bronze
124*54*44cm
Kusumoto graduated from Kagoshima University in 1976. A student of Shinya Nakamura, she has been creating and exhibiting standing and seated statues as well as group figures larger than life-size, primarily at both the Hakujitsu and the Nitten Exhibitions. With her assured skill at creating forms and her profound thoughts, she continues vigorously to produce masterpieces. In 1990, she became a judge for the Nitten Exhibition. This work was exhibited at the 30th Nitten Exhibition held in 1998. The head of the seated figure starts to turn round from the slightly protruded chin, creating an effect as if the figure is innocently asking questions. The artist looks at the beautiful posture of someone casually sitting on a chair, and she straightforwardly expresses the warmth and liveliness of the figure.
