A fear and love for nature bridges the protected space inside and the open spaces of the outside and draws us ever further toward a dynamic world. As a boundary between the inside and outside, the wooded area is a zone to enjoy the forest and valley and quietly observe the changes taking place in the natural world.
In each site and space, the work is installed to function as a bench and configured to allow a spatial experience that varies in each particular location. Through the use of local materials, the work is fundamentally related to the surrounding space, and this concept of harmony with the landscape is a key concept of the work. The volcanic rock of Sakurajima exudes a powerful energy from the earth. As time passes, moss and other plant life will grow, making it a part of the nature that surrounds it.
The works range from single module of blocks that are simply stacked crosswise to units made of two, three, or four modules arranged according to the points of the compass. The title "Interlink" is a metaphor for the growth of a single entity into multiple forms, the interconnection between the artificial and natural, and association between people.
