< Walk with the Dog > 2000 Painted aluminum Dog(8):3types, 44*82-89*20cm |
The dogs are taking a walk looking for some excitement. Taking a walk? But they are immobile sculpture. So perhaps all that they could do would be to "take a walk in time."
Look at the dogs' eyes and imagine what they are facing. Immobile as they are, their surrounding circumstances are changing all the time. The shifting of the natural environment, our sudden appearance, the dialogue with the audience, and the various situations which each of us are facing. Actually, the dogs are there to watch the various performances played out by us, and are waiting for something interesting to begin.
I am actively engaged in making a system that creates some interesting circumstances as my means of expression. I deployed these dogs on the premises of the Kirishima Open-Air Museum in the hope of providing a place where the audience can freely express their works.
What I am presenting here are not just sculpture of eight dogs, but an opportunity at the Kirishima Open-Air Museum, which will make expressive acts of various kinds possible by touching them off.
