Made from brightly colored stained glass, "Satsuma Brilliance" is shaped like the leaf of the sweet potato, Kagoshima's famous icon. Depending on the angle of the sunlight, up to seven different colors are projected onto the pathway below, above which the work is suspended.
The artwork captures the colors of Kagoshima:purple is used to represent the sweet potato, and indigo represents Satsuma Kiriko (cut glass).
