A "nest" is a structure built by a living creature, a place to be born and to grow in, and a place to depart from and return to. This work symbolizes such a concept by placing itself in the woods of Kirishima.
"I wanted to create a space where one can feel invisible things such as time and thoughts, where life and death are repeated time after time," he says. "I see a cave as an 'outer frame'." As for inner elements, I wanted to express a mythological tension between acceptance and rejection within my work. Such elements overlap with the serenity of motherhood along with the history of evolution.
"For the exterior, I have combined the image of respiration and habitation as well as the image of a shell (shadow) and a grave post to reflect my view of the world including that of life and death.
