Kirishima open-air museum newly begins ‘Kirishima lobby project’ that invites asian artist this year. The artist resides in Kagoshima and creates new works, inspired by the area. They will be installed in the exhibition lobby in the museum. Memorable first project invites Joyce Ho from Taiwan.
Ho is young woman artist born in Taipei. Ho manages not only art but also theater, so her representation crosses genres such as painting, sculpture, and performance. Her recent works have surprising elements even if they treat the ordinary. Her unique perspective and senses stir viewer’s mind.
Ho will go around Kagoshima prefecture for searching subject of works. Perhaps, She comes to your town. What kind of works will be created in Kagoshima?
Open studio takes place at the exhibition lobby next to entrance before exhibition. So you can witness creation of artwork. Please look forward!
[Artist plofile] Joyce Ho
Born in Taiwan, 1983. She graduated from University of California Irvine in 2007 with a degree in international studies. Then She got a master’s degree in painting from University of Iowa. She held solo exhibitions in Miami, Taipei, and Tainan. And She participated in group exhibition in Taiwan, South Korea, China, and Netherlands, etc. Her work was collected by National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts. She also is engaged in the theater, and dealed with scenic art, set design, costume design, director of ‘Riverbed Theater’ and other.
